What is Worship?
Worship is ascribing or giving worth to God, as well as our response to who Jesus is and how we've experienced His love, His presence, and His interaction in our lives. Our ability to worship comes as we interact with Jesus and get to know Him and the truth of His intricate, though vast, character. When we come together at a church service or a small group, our primary goal is to express elements of God's character and proclaim the truth of who He is. Along with this proclamation, our worship highlights our desire for more of His nature to impact who we are as individuals and as a community. As we worship, we discover more of who He is; our response can be nothing more than excitement, reverence, celebration, repentance and joy.
In the words of William Bishop Temple, "Worship is to quicken the conscience by the holiness of God, to feed the mind with the truth of God, to purge the imagination by the beauty of God, to devote the will to the purpose of God."
What is Arvada Vineyard Worship All About?
We believe in relevant, intimate, accessible, God-focused worship.
Relevant Worship ~ We use our creative gifting in our worshipful expressions to God.
Intimate Worship ~ We sing songs to God rather than about God. We reveal our hearts to Him and allow Him to reveal His heart to us. Intimacy comes as an overflow of a heart full of love for Jesus.
Accessible Worship ~ We sing songs that are simple for anyone and everyone to sing, no matter their relationship to Jesus. Structures, melodies, and lyrics are not complex.
God-Focused Worship ~ We focus our songs on God and to God - we proclaim His traits, actions, character, and work in our lives. We focus our worship not on ourselves, but on Him, and we focus our songs in all tensions of relationship with Him - His closeness and His transcendence; His intimacy and His holiness.
